How to back up and restore your pets
CuePet keeps everything on your phone only, so a backup is how you keep your pets safe and how you move them to a new phone. Watch the short walkthrough, or follow the written steps below.

Good to know
Your backup file contains your pets' details, treatments and attached records, so keep it somewhere safe. If you already have pets in CuePet when you import, you can choose to merge the backup with them or replace them.
Why keep the file name?
CuePet names your backup with the date, like cuepet-backup-2026-10-28.json. Keeping that name means you can tell at a glance that it's a CuePet backup and which day it's from, so you always pick the newest one when you restore.
The name isn't what makes it work, so a renamed file still imports. What matters is the inside of the file: please don't open it and edit it, or CuePet may not be able to restore your pets.
